Testimonials of real clients

"I found Men and Trauma during one of most difficult phases of life, and it was the best decision of my life. The professionalism approach of the therapy team combined with friendliness and full understanding of my traumas helped me to have a clear picture of traumas impact on life. Therapy sessions were unbiased , safe place to open up and receive valuable support.  I found a way to improve quality of my life with support of Men and Trauma NZ.

Ben " - Wellington

"I have received individual support from this amazing group on a number of occasions over
the years and am a regular member of their weekly group. As a male victim of female rape
and sexual abuse (as a child and adult) no other group has welcomed me besides Men and
Trauma. No ‘female’ centric organisation has ever supported me; I am not welcome in their
groups by definition as I am a trigger (their words no mine).

Please do not take the above paragraph as personal criticism of female centric support but
rather a breath taking lack of support for male centric support services. Nor should you take
my use of the term ‘Men’ to be gender specific perse, Men and Trauma help those who
need help regardless of ‘gender’."

D - Porirua

"My partner is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) arising from sexual trauma and a depressive illness of moderate severity with suicidal ideation. He received counselling support from people behind this project for several months and it helped us deal with these issues. My partner has been engaging well with his therapy and I hope that he maintains his recovery with the continued support of people from Men and Trauma."

A - Phillipines

"I have received valuable support from them for several months in 2021 and not only did they help me deal with my issues - I can honestly say they have literally saved my life many times over.

I believe supporting them in all their endeavors allows them to expand assistance and help to people in need who have huge difficulty in accessing services that we are in dire need of in Aotearoa. I believe the work that they do is invaluable to the people they serve. I do not know where I would be without their kind and empathetic support."

T - Phillipines

"I have received support from the Men and Trauma team in the past. Since then I have accessed other community support to help with my issues. The service and support offered by Men and Trauma was of a high standard and superior to what I experienced elsewhere; critically, the service was trauma-informed."

C.B. - Kapiti Coast

"It’s a well-known fact that men are less likely to reach out for help. Given the current situation in New Zealand with the chronic shortage of mental health providers and insurmountable waiting lists, the service that Men and Trauma provides cannot be underestimated.

For me, finding Men and Trauma was a lifeline. For the first time I have found the help and safe space I need to address how early-childhood sexual abuse has affected every aspect of my life."

J.A - Wellington

"My name is ### originally from Ethiopia been in newzeland for the last 5 years and plus. I have been thought a very rough relationship with my previous wife. Everything was dark for me till I managed of getting a free help from man and Truman Ltd. They are very helpful and trustworthy people. I can see a change on me since I started getting helped from them. I know a lot of my community members are struggling with mental health and other illnesses so having that kind of organization it does really help us to stay sharp in New Zealand life. "

G G - Ethipoia

"I have received support from them for the past 3-4 years and it has greatly helped me deal with my issues.
I believe that this project will help to expand support to people in need who have huge difficulty in accessing services.
I  believe it will be to the benefit of people who have been marginalized within the wellington community."
