​Trauma Informed practice

Workshop FormatAll workshops are delivered by 2 facilitators who are clinically trained and experts in Trauma work.
  • Workshops can be provided in person or by an on-line format such as zoom.
  • Groups can be from 10 – 60.
  • They can be delivered for various lengths, from 2 – 8 hours.
  • They can be tailored for your specific working environment.
 
 1 - Foundation trauma recognition - Be trauma informed!
Aimed at Managers, HR, other non-healthcare staff.
 
  • Groups can be from 10 – 60.

This training is for organisations and key staff such as managers and H.R. professionals to understand the effects of trauma and how to deal with them in the workplace.
 
You will be given key concepts to help identify staff who may have been affected by trauma.
 
Topics include, but are not limited to:
  • Indicators of Trauma in staff members.
  • How to help workmates and team leaders identify signs of trauma.
  • Understanding causes of psychological trauma.
  • Simple steps to help address it in their workplace.
  • Understanding how to refer for further support.
  • What is vicarious trauma?
 
Extra topics can be included on request, and if at the appropriate level.
  
2 - Work with Psychological Trauma - Become Trauma informed!This training is for workers in the helping professions who may encounter people in crisis who have experienced trauma in their lives, which is now affecting their wellbeing. You may be Paramedics, Emergency responders, Youth workers, teachers, nurses, corrections officers, or other helpers.
 
Groups can be from 10 – 60.

This training will give you a grounding in the effects of trauma:
  • How it affects the brain and cognitions.
  • How to identify it in a person you are working with.
  • What behavioural changes may indicate the presence of trauma.
  • What first interventions are key to providing support.
  • How to refer your client for more intensive support if required

3 – For clinicians new to Trauma workClinicians can be studying or have completed their qualifications in some cases without a strong programme in working with Trauma. These may be student placements, recent graduates or any other clinician who needs more foundation work.
 Groups can be from 10 – 40.


This training will cover how trauma may present in your client.

How to assess a potential trauma client
 
Understanding the neuro-physiology
How Dissociation disrupts cognition and emotional awareness
The 3 stages of trauma recovery, how clients become survivors after victims
 
4 – Experienced clinicians seeking to develop their Trauma skillsAimed at clinicians with some trauma experience looking to cover more in-depth work.

Groups can be from 10 – 40.
